A good Veterans Day indeed.

My heart is as happy as can be.

Veterans Day 2013, you were awesome.

I worked 8-5 which wasn’t too shabby. Plus, I had a fun filled lunch and got to lay down and chat with B. It took me back to a couple of years ago, laying in her bed and talking for hours. I love sweet memories.

Earlier during the day Don has asked me if I wanted to head over to Paul’s house to BBQ so after work I headed home, freshened up, then headed over to Paul’s. It was so much fun to sit there with the guys, drink a few beers, and watch a football game.

Around 8 I headed over to my Big’s, followed by Jamba Juice, and, finally, Big and Little revealing.

This ladies and gentlemen, is in large part due to the immense amount of happiness I feel today. I love being around my sisters. My heart and life is instantly filled with joy, laughter, and tears- from the combination of the both. I love my sisters.

Yesterday was big and little revealing. This time around I kept thinking back to the day of my revealing. And how on that very day, my life changed. You see, I would have never expected that writing down three names on a sheet of paper and getting my number one would forever change my life.

4 years later my Big has become such a huge part of my life. I want her there for my wedding. I want her there when I graduate. I want her there when I have kids. I want her in my future. These past 4 years have been nothing short of amazing and within those 4 years I found a solace, a mentor, a supporter, a true and constant friend, a big sister. I can’t begin to express how blessed I am to have such a beautiful soul in my life.

After revealing B, my Big, and I headed over to Don and Saul’s place with pizza lunchables and a 6-pack of beer. The box had a lady with white hair on it and B insisted that homegirl with the white hair was the determining factor. It was bomb! Good job white haired lady! We spent the next few hours talking, laughing, hopping around the kitchen, enjoying each other’s company, and doing the oh so typical things that I cherish about my friends. I dropped the girls off and went to bed in the comfort of Don’s arms.

A good Veterans Day indeed.

Yesterday was also Gamma Phi Beta’s Founders Day. On this day I was especially grateful for the joy, traditions, rituals, sisters, support, and blessings that our four founders left us. Without them, I wouldn’t have Gamma Phi Beta and there is no doubt in my mind that Gamma Phi Beta is one of the greatest decisions of my life; for with it came blessings that I could never have imagined.

Helen M. Dodge, Frances E Haven, E. Adeline Curtis, Mary A. Bingham, 139 years later I thank you with all of my heart.  in IIKE
